Help the Environment by Choosing Verizon's Green Bill

If you are wondering how you can help save the environment from global warming and you are a Verizon customer, you can do this very easily by signing up for their Green Billing system. You will also help to get new trees planted with their new program.

Customers are asked to sign up for the paperless billing option and because you are doing something to help save the environment, they will also plant a tree for each customer who registers for the Green Bill and Auto Bill pay. They will do this until October 1.

Many people already have signed up for various banking options for bill pay that you can usually get through your bank. This option will now allow you to pay your Verizon bill right through their bill pay system so you don’t have to worry about sending your money into the company or finding somewhere to pay it.

You also stop having to worry about your bill coming every month. You can help Verizon save money by reducing postage and paper use costs and you can get a clear statement of your charges right in your email box.

My Verizon is Verizon's online account management system and when you register you will also get a certificate to let you know that a tree was planted on your behalf and a thank-you note. Now what other mobile phone company do you know of that will do something like that!

How To Register for New Billing

If you want to register, you can go to their site at www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon.  The trees will be planted by "American Forests" one of the oldest nonprofit conservation groups in America. They probably have a system to do this since they have been plaint trees since 1875.  They also understand the forest ecosystems so they will be able to put the appropriate trees in the appropriate forest environment that is best for that tree.

Now we think this is a great idea! I know that some people don't trust paperless anything and they are afraid that people will see their information online. I hate to tell you this, but if you were to look up your name on the Internet there is already a lot of information if you have ever done anything online. The point is not to worry about this since it is something that you can't help.

Instead, focus on the fact that you are doing something good for the environment and it is a way to help you understand My Verizon a whole lot better. According to Kevin Meehan, Verizon Wireless vice president – marketing, Verizon created this option to help people get used to using My Verizon because they can get a lot of information about their account in that way. They can also understand more about how they use their minutes by going there.

We think this is a very good idea and you should try it out. After all we need to start saving the planet even if it is one person at a time.
