Cast Your Remote Vote in the AT&T Cottonbowl

In December of 2008 AT&T announced the Greatest Moment in AT&T Cotton Bowl History contest. The winning moment to be determined by ‘the people’.
The January 2nd, 2009 Cotton Bowl is to be the last played in the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Voting for the Greatest Moment is via the Internet or by texting.
AT&T believes this is a great way to get college football enthusiasts involved in the decision making and put their wireless technology in the middle of the action as well.
The Greatest Moment in Cotton Bowl History is narrowed down to three choices.
AT&T put a Cotton Bowl Committee together who narrowed the choices down to three. In addition to voting for their favorite of the three, everyone who votes will be entered to win 2 tickets to the 2009 and 2010 Cotton Bowl.
And Your Choices Are
The Cotton Bowl Committee together picked these as the Greatest Moments in AT&T Cotton Bowl history to choose from. Wireless customers vote by texting A, B, or C to 7313. The selected moments to choose from are:
(A) The Bench Tackle: In the 1954 game between Rice and Alabama, Alabama’s Tommy Lewis jumped off the bench to tackle Rice’s Dick Maegle as he was heading for a touchdown. Rice was awarded the touchdown because the referee said had Lewis not jumped into the game from the bench that Maegle would have scored. Clearly, Lewis was coming to the aid of his fellow teammates, albeit to no avail.
(B) The Fourth Down Catch: The 1970 Cottonbowl featuring Texas and Notre Dame brought this great moment. Longhorn quarterback James Street along with Coach Darrell Royal needed a miracle play to keep the drive going. With only two and a half minutes remaining they came up with a diving catch by Cotton Spreyrer and kept the drive going. They would go on to score and win their second national championship.
(C) Montana’s Miracle Comeback: The 1979 Cottonbowl pitted Notre Dame against Houston. Notre Dame was down 22 points going into the 4th quarter. Joe Montana would set himself apart as a legend with his miraculous comeback – the greatest comeback in college football’s history. With the game tied when the clock ran out, Notre Dame’s kicker scored the extra point to win it.
AT&T’s Cottonbowl contest for the 2009 Cottonbowl will bring back memories for many diehard fans as they vote for their favorite Greatest Moment. The power of the AT&T network will make it happen.
