The 2008 Olympics are Over but Memories Still Linger with AT&T

If you are an AT&T subscriber you probably still have the memories of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing because you are still playing around with the music and the ringtones you downloaded during that week.
If you are not a subscriber then you really missed something. In a similar format as artist have done for such projects as We Are The World, recording artists came together again to support the U.S. Olympic Team athletes as they competed in the Olympic Games.
Artists like Army of Me, Clique Girlz, Sheryl Crow, Flipsyde and others recorded tracks for the AT&T Tema USA Soundtrack that were exclusive tracks you won't find anywhere else.
The music actually debuted during the NBC and Telemundo broadcasts so if you were watching you heard many motivational songs that were dedicated to Team USA. If you are into sports outside of the Olympics, these songs were also for you.
All of the songs were available during the Olympics and you could download them to any AT&T wireless phones; you could also get them online. There was even an NBC link where you could download them.
Now, we don't want to make you jealous if you are not an AT&T customer, but hey, that's just the way it is sometimes. If you were able to download this music, you also were helping the Team USA Olympic team because the money that AT&T received from your downloads went to benefit the Team USA.
According to Jamie Butcher, the VP of AT&T Brand Sponsorships, they were making the music so it would represent the spirit that the Olympic Games were based upon. They wanted to inspire and encourage the team and help fans connect with the athletes. This way, everyone was able to lend a hand.
Athletes Were Impressed
The athletes of Team USA were really inspired with this and it meant a lot to them that the artists would take time to do something as important for them. Michael Phelps, one of the athletes said, "The support we're receiving from these artists and the fans is amazing."
Nastia Liukin, one of the gymnasts seconded that statement by saying, " There's nothing like training or performing to a great song, and it's so exciting that these artists were willing to produce songs to encourage us at one of the largest competitions of our lives".
Could you imagine being one of those athletes and listening to a song by your favorite artist before you went out into the competition? Wow! And the fans are able to hear those songs too.
This is just another way that AT&T shows that they are on the cutting edge of technology. This also shows their commitment to helping their customers and doing good things in the world. Well, we know that we took a lot of gold and silver medals and perhaps part of it was because of the fans support.
