This good news/bad news scenario comes as the technology that supports both still and video photography from cell phones continues to advance and society is now trying to figure out how to address growing privacy concerns.

• Cell Phone Laws – Turn It Off!
  While most Americans carry cellular phones, many people believe that there should be a law against using cell phones in public venues. The City of New York apparently thinks so too, and has gone ahead to pass cell phone laws that address not only public safety but also public courtesy. Effective in April 2003, the city’s new cell phone law bans the use of cell phones during public exhibits and performances.

• Cell Phone Bans – Don’t Talk & Drive!
  Joining two other states, the District of Columbia has decided to ban the use of handheld cell phones while driving. With cell phone bans effective July, 2004, one has to wonder how the ban will affect a city of high-powered people who rely on the wireless phone to stay connected? Similar cell phone bans have also gone into effect in the State of New Jersey.
