Cingular Wireless — Proving Itself to Many ConsumersConsumer Reports recently rated Cingular’s basic plans (suitable only for casual users) as one the most affordable (based solely on pre-set monthly fee) offered by cell phone carriers. If you’re trying to find a cell phone calling plan for the first time, you will be happy to know that Cingular Wireless is widely considered one of the most affordable options, with plans starting for less that $30 a month. Currently, this plan costs just under $50 a month and also includes call forwarding, call waiting, caller ID, wireless email and three-way calling. There is a $.45 per minute charge for extra minutes, as well as a directory assistance charge (dialing 411) of $1.29 plus airtime (and we all know how long these calls can take). This monthly charge does not include conference calling, voice mail (which is a must for most) or two-way text messaging. There is an activation fee of $36; the contract term is one year with an early termination fee of $240 and a security deposit may apply, contingent on credit check and other carrier considerations. Cingular is also widely considered a leader of cell phone carriers comprised of a mix of acquired companies on both the East and West coasts. In fact, Cingular cell phone plans also include a strong frequent user plan, the Cingular SuperHome 900 with Rollover (estimated monthly cost in most major U.S. cities is $75-$80), and an even stronger plan for a family of four, called the Cingular Nation GSM Family Talk 700 with Rollover (which is estimated at around $100 per month, with just $10 for each additional line).
Further supporting Cingulars' cell phone plans is a full line of reliable Cingular phones, that showcase a large variety of features, ensuring there is a phone that is perfect for everyone. If your interested in the family plan, your children will be excited to know that they can pick from phones with cool Cingular ring tones, Web capabilities, text messaging and picture taking capabilities. Of course, if you are a casual user, these features may not be important to you and you many be more interested in choosing a phone that is just very basic, while the frequent user or the business person may find a need to check emails from their Cingular cell phone, which is possible on many of the phones. You may also be interested in knowing that Cingular offers rollover minutes on many of its calling plans, allowing you to carry forward any of your unused calling time. The Cingular Wireless network operates on digital networks, TDMA and GSM (Time Division Multiple Access and Global System for Mobile Communications). Remember: GSM can operate only on other GSM networks and the TDMA network is larger and allows for roaming on other TDMA or analog systems. Also see; the "Top 5" Cingular Wireless Offers On The Net!
