June 22, 2006 By: James D. Martell NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge – A Phenomenal Success!History was made last month when Sprint wireless fans broke a record of voting for NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. There were more than 92,000 votes for NASCAR, which exhibited a whopping 511% increase over the corresponding figures last year. Due to an overwhelming response, it was extended for those who missed the voting or waited for the last moment. The voting was extended up to May 20. The extended voting was a huge success too! This was a memorable experience for the Sprint fans, as they cast their vote for their favorite racers. There were 50 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup series drivers who participated in the All-Star challenge. There were various options available for the voters. They could vote through Sprint or Nextel web-enabled phones by typing “NASCAR” on their text messages and sending it to 7777. They could even go to Nextel retail stores and cast their vote there. The other option was to cast voting online by logging onto the website www.nascar.com. Special Offer for Sprint FansCustomers who used their Sprint or Nextel phones for voting received a special offer. They got a free Mark Martin screensaver that symbolized the success of the All-Star challenge. Besides this, Sprint Nextel provided a series of new wireless features to help the voters keep pace with the speed. Some of them included a special content related to NEXTEL All-Star challenge, opinions of industry experts, present drivers of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, and others. These were available on multimedia phones that contained Sprint Power VisionSM as well as in text versions. Features like these enables the fans to be in touch with their favorite racers through wireless as well as the wireline phones. The telecard costs only $2.50 excluding taxes. It displayed the voice of racers like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Elliott Sadler, and many other renowned experts. Thus, with such a phenomenal voting, Sprint has gained a massive customer base throughout the US.
