Competition for Alltel – Is It?

The commercial-free radio services through cell phones are heating up with the entry of Sprint and Virgin Radio. With the cell phone services eyeing the growing radio market, the satellite radio service players are upping the ante by installing their devices in new cars, and offering 120 to 150 commercial free music channels. Wanting a piece of the action from the burgeoning satellite radio market, cell phone operator, Sprint has also introduced a new radio service of music and news.

Sprint offers 13 channels at $5.95 per month, which includes not only music, but also news, talk shows and other contents. To avail this service, you must have a multimedia phone and subscribe to its monthly Vision plan, costing $15 to $25 a month, along with a standard voice plan.
