November 19, 2005 By: Matt Jacks What Is The Cell Phone Memory Slot Feature? Our modern cultural obsession with our little cellular pals and all the cool stuff that they bring us, shows no sign of slowing. But with all the increased duties that they have to perform, a cell phone memory slot can help out quite a bit. The manufacturers know we want more and more, so newer cell phones have more internal memory anyway. But this still may not be enough for a lot of users, so cell phone memory slots will be increasingly included in new mobile handsets. We’re not talking about the internal phone book here. In times past that was the only thing that memory was needed for, as well as storing some text messages too. We use our cellular mobile phones for work and play. We don’t only want to talk to people. We want to play video games; we want to download and listen to music; we want to take lots of pictures and store and share them with our friends. And that’s just some of it! There are wallpapers, and polyphonic ring tones and animated screensavers too which all take up their smaller amount of memory. But we want more to keep and choose from, and it soon adds up. So we start to complain. It’s just that often it’s a pain to delete old games if you want to download more. Or have to get rid of some pictures or video messages to make space for new ones. Music too, takes up a lot of memory, and for those with MP3 players, it’s just not tolerable to have to lose part of our cell phone’s music collection. So a phone memory slot for a TransFlash or SD/MMC memory card means not only can we do more, we can keep more too.
