December 20, 2005 By: Cathy Harrison PC Mobile Phones – New Accessibility Across The CountryMicrosoft and Voice Stream Wireless have announced their joint plan to bring Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition-based devices to customers later this year through IPC mobile phones. This PC mobile phone functionality will be available for use over Voice Stream's high-speed GSM/GPRS (Global System for Mobile/General Packet Radio Service) wireless voice and data network. High Speed – Secure AccessCombining Microsoft's Pocket PC Phone Edition software, with high speed wireless capabilities, and Voice Stream's wireless networks provides customers with phone and data capabilities like never before. Users are able to make phone calls or use high-speed wireless access to view virtually any Internet site or securely access corporate networks, e-mail from more than 6,500 cities across the United States, and no less, at speeds that rival or exceed standard dial-up wired connections. Voice Stream customers are able to access the convenience that comes with remotely accessing information from their laptops and Pocket PCs using Voice Stream's nationwide GPRS high-speed network and a PC data card. And couple this with the fact that Voice Stream's 802.11b wireless broadband network is available in more than 650 public locations across the country; this means that customers can access their favorite Microsoft applications remotely using Wi-Fi enabled laptops or PDAs. Voice Stream has long been committed to providing a secure, fast and responsive wireless experience to all its customers and this new service is a demonstration of this fact.
