Hearing-Aid Cell Phones – Benefiting People With Hearing Loss

TracFone Wireless – America’s largest prepaid wireless service provider - in partnership with Audex - a leading manufacturer of assistive listening devices – has announced that they will be offering dedicate hearing aid cell phones to the hearing impaired market. The new TracFone hearing aid cell phone is specifically designed with hearing impaired people in mind, along with people who work or frequent noisy environments.

The demand for a product that offers this feature is long overdue. It is a complex technology behind the scenes, but from a users perspective it is oh so simple and straightforward. This product reduces audio interference in hearing aids and improves the overall cell phone listening function. It does this by incorporating the Audex CHAAMP accessory which easily snaps on to Nokia 5100 handsets.

There is no obligation on users to sign up for a lengthy contract which means that it is relatively inexpensive for phone users. This is important as normally something like this attached to a contract would preclude a percentage of the market from taking advantage of it.

While an Audex powered handset can be highly useful in environments like construction and transportation, where listening can be difficult, the handset is primarily geared towards users who have a hearing impairment. When used in conjunction with hearing aids, the handset offers background noise suppression, a high-quality speaker for improved sound, a recorder function for on-line recording of calls and playback capability, and a flashing light indicator for incoming calls.

The handset also features two-way text messaging, voice mail access, 30dB of additional amplification, T-coil and cochlear implant compatible, an extra loud ringer with flashing lights and a six-minute recorder.
