August 29, 2005 By: Alison Lelliott Broadband Wireless Phones – Cingular Delivers More ChoicesCingular Wireless – one of America’s largest wireless phone providers - has now announced its intention to deploy one of the fastest high-speed mobile wireless data networks across the country. This network will allow broadband wireless phones to connect like no other network has done in the past. This 3G network will offer average data speeds of up to several megabits per second on a broadband wireless phone. Cingular Wireless is a joint venture of SBC Communications Inc. and BellSouth Corp. It is this joint venture that will be rolling out the high speed 3G network across the country. Through its recent acquisition of AT&T Wireless, Cingular are now able to build the 3G phone networks. Cingular pioneered the development of GSM at both 850 and 1900 MHz. Because they tend to be at the forefront of all network and product advancement, it makes sense that they would embark on a plan to make this high-speed phone network available to both regional and rural roaming partners who will in turn be able to deploy services on their own existing networks. The new wireless service will enable enhanced internet services to be delivered right into local communities. Services include broadband-capable high-speed Internet access, wirelessly enabled enterprise tools and audio/video streaming for business customers, and plenty of consumer services such as high-resolution digital video capture and playback and advanced multi-player online gaming.
