Cell Phone TV – Cingular Goes Live With MobiTV

Live cell phone tv programming is now available on cell phones thanks to Cingular Wireless. Cingular is now delivering wireless television to mobile phone subscribers. Thanks to MobiTV, subscribers can now view the world's first television network for mobile phones.

MobiTV – the largest cell phone carrier in the United States is now offering this service on exclusive handsets such as the Motorola V180. This is a significant step for MobiTV as it is now essentially doubling its distribution channels by offering this service, which is in some senses, the newest television distribution medium since satellite tv.

The MobiTV service is available to all Cingular Wireless subscribers who use the Nokia 6620, Motorola V3 (RAZR), Motorola V220, Motorola V180, Motorola V400 and V600 handsets. This service allows those subscribers to watch live news, sports and entertainment programming on 22 channels. Some of the channels that subscribers can view include MSNBC, CNBC, ABC News Now, NBC Mobile, FOX Sports, Discovery, TLC, C-SPAN, and other music, sports, fashion, and comedy channels.

MobiTV can be purchased directly from the phone itself by following a simple set of steps from the phone’s integrated menu. Once the service has been downloaded, MobiTV will then be launched for the subscriber from the phone's 'Main Menu'. The service costs around $10 per month although customers can subscribe to a MEdia Works Package which provides unlimited data services for a higher cost.
