July 13, 2005 By: Alison Lelliott Mobile Phone Search Engines - Get Ready To SurfSiemens, a world wide leader in the development of cell phone technology, has announced the development and launch of a brand new feature that will change the functionality of cell phones forever. Mobile phone search engines for cell phones are the next big thing when it comes to cell phone usability. The mobile search engine that will be integrated into the Siemens brand phones was developed by MotionBridge, a French start up technology oriented company that has been funded by Siemens. According to a recent article in PC World, the search engine functionality will work compatibly with all mobile Web standards including WAP, i-mode, and UMTS. Siemens is intent on having search engines improve mobile web usability by around 50-70% which is why they have invested so heavily in the feature. Search engines on sell phones mean that users will be able to access sites much faster when using Siemens' search technology. One key feature of these search engines for cell phones, is that when the cell phone user enters a name of a popular web presence like Amazon, they will be taken directly to the site, instead of having to first be taken to a search results page through Google or some other engine. Similarly, to increase efficiency, the system also features an automatic correction tool to deal with typographical errors, so if for instance, a user types ‘weater’ instead of ‘water’, the engine will auto correct and offer suggestions based on the auto correction tool. Finally, the search function maintains a list of the 20 most frequent keywords searched so that the user can quickly move to those sites from the list.
