The Oki Electric Industry Company and Casio Computers have jointly developed and released a 32 polyphonic sound generator and 16 polyphonic sound generator aimed at the Chinese market. Oki is the first semiconductor company in Japan to develop a mobile sound chip specifically with a commitment to developing excellent sound quality that suits the Chinese market. The two mobile sound chips are ready to be used by the manufacturers of Chinese oriented cell phones and also those manufactured in Europe, North America, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

Oki aims to sell nine million mobile sound chips and cards in an effort to hold the top market share in China by the end of the first quarter in 2005. To do this they have established a project team in Shanghai who focus only on marketing and technical support specifically for the Chinese market, and the end results were sound chips and cards that offer excellent sound quality, is small in size, and has low power consumption.
