May 06, 2005 By: Alison Lelliott Car Cell Phones – Motorola Has The AnswerMotorola, a global leader in car cell phone technologies, is working collaboratively with automobile manufacturers around the world to develop car cell phones that integrate seamlessly into a driver’s automobile experience. By partnering with major car manufacturers, Motorola is ensuring the security of its brand and sales of its product by offering a hands-free communications as a safe alternative. This new car cell phone technology, known as Driver Advocate, is designed to reduce driver distraction and encourage responsible driving. This onboard software is completely invisible and seamless to the driver but allows them to communicate effectively without putting themselves or other drivers at risk. There are several ways that the software can be integrated into the vehicle. One way is through a three button mechanism on the steering wheel column where each button is dedicated to a particular task. One button is used for wireless communication information while the second button provides navigational data. The third button provides information on outside conditions and conditions within the car. The cellular phone functionality is fully integrated into the wheel of the automobile, and allows the driver to opt to take the call, make a call, dictate information or retrieve information. Information can also be presented and prioritized in terms of importance so the driver can then choose what to do and when to all at the touch of a steering wheel button. Motorola continues to develop emerging technologies that enable a vehicle, a cellular phone and other components of the car to communicate to each another intelligently. This is great news for consumers.
