Cell Phone Text Messaging – Fun For Thumbs

Despite the rapid spread of picture messaging and the onset of the latest multimedia messaging technology, it is still cell phone text messaging that is the most frequent choice of communication for many mobile users. Often, phone messaging though SMS can even outstrip voice calls, with literally billions of cell phone text messages being sent and received by cellular handsets each and every day.

The biggest mobile phone market is Europe, where text messages really took off - being helped by the European cellular carriers actually co-operating with one another to make things easier.

In the United States SMS (short message service - the proper term for what is more popularly referred to as text messaging) had a troubled birth as the carriers were much slower than their counterparts across the Atlantic to realize the potential of these messages, but now happily Americans can use their thumbs as easily to send a text as an Asian or European.

Sending A Text Can Be Like Sending A Smile

For work or play, sending a text message is often the quickest and most affordable cellular way to contact and interact with others, and can be even more low cost if purchased in a package as part of your cell phone deal.

Special promotions are always welcome if they can save you some money, but often the most welcome things are the messages themselves: whether from a friend, relation, or business contact; to arrange a meet, pass on the latest gossip, or to get text alerts on weather, sports, shares or showbiz, SMS can pay for downloads or simply say hello.

Easy to send and receive on all new phones, with more help from the likes of T9 predictive text or by using the abbreviated form of language now widespread, text messaging will help you to stay in touch for whatever you want to say.
