Mobile gaming has come a long way and Sprint is among the forefront in the mobile gaming industry. To increase the number of games for Sprint cell phones that are available the company has purchased more than 3.5 million games in the year 2004. Sprint now boasts of 9.5 million games since the launch of its new product Sprint PCS Vision SM.

Mobile cell phone gaming is fast becoming a craze because of the easy availability of gaming-capable handsets. The content available is also such that more and more cellular phone subscribers are turning towards mobile gaming. In fact estimates by Sprint suggest that approximately 24 million cell phone subscribers would download at least one game this year in the U.S. alone.

Sprint’s strategy to become a leader in the cell phone gaming market has been given shape by its purchase of more than 5 million games in 2003 and it has followed it by buying another 3.5 million games in 2004. The cellular phone company is also trying various innovations and is expected to come up with 3D games and the like. Sprint cellular phones, in partnership with Sanyo and Bandai, also plans to demonstrate 3D games at E3.

Recently it launched the Game Lobby, a gaming community for people to meet and play. The community is a huge hit with thousands joining every week. Various cell phones and features are being added to increase competition and to bring in more gamers to the network.

Sprint has uploaded 250,000 plus scores to its game lobby. It has two new partners and now has more than 20 partnerships. Many titles have been purchased 500,000 times or more. Sprint plans to continue with its new innovations and partnerships even after E3 to become the leader in the mobile gaming segment instead of being just a major cellular phone player.
