January 26, 2005 By: Michelle Harris Sprint Picture Mail – Now Print Your Favorite PicturesSprint Picture Mail customers can now print their camera-phone pictures by sending them to participating photofinishers like Ritz Camera, Sam’s Club and Wolf Camera. This new service is being supported by the above mentioned retail photofinishers in their respective channels. Sprint has partnered with Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc., to provide the new feature. The cell phone feature uses “Get the Picture Online Service” offered by Fujifilm and is a landmark in the development of wireless imaging services. Sprint cell phone subscribers can click pictures on their high resolution mobile phones of their loved ones, of beautiful places, of cherished memories etc and print them by using this wonderful service. By making everything that is possible with a camera a reality in a mobile phone, Sprint aims to become a market leader in the cell phone camera segment. Sprint customers who use the Picture Mail Service can upload it to the picture mail online albums. Once they have uploaded it they have the option of searching for a photofinisher nearby. This can be done by using the cell phone search option and finding the relevant photofinisher as per the zip code. They can then place orders for prints as per the sizes they require. They can then go and collect the prints at the retailer in a few hours usually. Cell phone users also have the option of sharing their photos with friends and family and getting the photofinisher to print them. The friend or family member can collect it from a location near their place of living. Fujifilm by partnering with Sprint has enabled customers to print high quality pictures by being connected. This cell phone service could make the camera phone one of the most sought after consumer products. Current studies and research that have been conducted also indicate that pictures taken on camera phones will be printed. This would surely be a shot in the arm for both Fujifilm and Sprint.
