January 26, 2005 By: Michelle Harris Cell Phone Music Store Music On The GoUse of mobile phones as actual music players has only just begun to take off and there is still a long way to go. Now consumers no longer have to write down the names of their favorite songs they have discovered and wait until they get home to download them onto their personal computers. With a cell phone music store, millions of customers can now research and purchase their favorite music right from their cell phones and the purchases are automatically billed to their monthly statements. AT&T Wireless has launched a mobile-phone-based digital music store. The AT&T music for cell phones enables the users to buy digital music tracks of their choice from a library of approximately 750,000 cellular songs right from their handset. This is called as mMode and the service is provided by AT&T Wireless to its customers. This service entertains the customers with world class functions like news, sports and gaming. The digital music tracks can also be downloaded to Windows personal computers by the users and the billing is done automatically to their monthly cellular statements. With the help of mobile music store people can start downloading songs or streaming music over high-bandwidth wireless connections. Now the users can get all the albums and new releases right into the mobile handsets. The cellular store is classified according to the genre or pop artist, so the user can select from that which is available. The cellular store provides all the key features and a person can search, discover, preview and buy digital music of his choice. The store also offers a sample soundtrack that can be previewed while purchasing a soundtrack. The cellular store also provides Music ID services to its customers which helps identify a song on the radio by holding the phone close to a speaker. Then customers receive a text message with the name and artist of the song. Once they receive the message they can click on a link to go straight to the music store to buy that digital music track. All in all, its a great offering.
