What Is The Cell Phone Web Access Feature?

Cell phone web access is the ability to get onto the internet through your cell phone.

Seen by many as the next great leap forward for cell phone technology, cellular phone web access has already been around in various limited forms for the past several years.

Like the internet itself, cell phones began with limited closed nets between cell phones, such as “online” networked chat rooms and downloadable graphics or ring tones from open servers, and as the technology has improved they have branched out into the real world of cyber-space.

Cellular phone web access these days includes email access, instant messaging freely and easily between desktop PC’s and cell phones, and other shared access features once only found on standard desktop-style internet connections.

The new generation of PDA’s are the next step toward the realization of a fully integrated multimedia communications network, as they are able to offer many of the features and abilities seen on standard desktop PC’s but still small enough to be carried around in a pocket or in a small holster.

At the moment, however, internet connectivity in cell phones is expensive and not always reliable. Also, there are limited areas of the internet that would be useful for cell phones and desktop computers, so what access there is for cell phones is still separated by barriers.

A large part of the problem is the ability for cellular phone web browsers to handle and re-interpret information of web sites and web pages so that they can be properly viewed on a tiny LCD cell phone screen.

At the moment, there is a race to see just what companies can put out a reliable web browser for a cell phone internet connection while still being small enough software that it doesn’t take up half the memory available inside a tiny cell phone body.

One topic that really gets both cellular phone professionals and on-demand business professionals drooling is the so-called “G3 Network”, a system slowly being developed that will allow for cell phone coverage style high speed wireless internet.

Not only would this be a boon to the internet world of business (imagine being able to open your laptop anywhere in the country and getting instant high speed internet access) but it will also jump cellular phone web access through the stratosphere as a stable and easy-to-use wireless internet connection became constantly available.
