December 09, 2004 By: Bill Schnarr What Is The Cell Phone Message Indicator Feature?A cell phone message indicator is a notice on your cell phone that you have missed calls or may have messages in your voice mail box. Generally, message indicators come in two types: internal message indicators and external message indicators. Internal message indicators are usually recognized as a beep or other disturbance on your cell phone when you try to make a call. Before your call is processed, a noise indicator will let you know that you have incoming voicemail messages to be heard. Panasonic cell phones and Sanyo cell phones both have this service free of charge if you have a voicemail box set up. In fact, just about every cell phone can perform this service; it just depends on whether you have activated voice mail messaging with your cell phone provider. Nextel mobile phone carriers as well as the Sprint PCS network carry this feature in their wireless plans, much like the rest of the cell phone world does. An external cell phone messages indicator works a little differently. Generally, when you receive messages on your voicemail or you have missed called, the external messages indicator for your cell phone could let your know in a variety of ways. On some phones it is a distinct ring or beep, while on others it could be a graphic on the display screen of their wireless phone or even a series of lights that go off when a message is indicated. You can add custom graphics to a lot of cell phones, which a perfect addition to a more personalized external cell phone message indicator. If you have cell phone graphic capabilities, chances are your cell phone will also add any pertinent contact information stored in your cell phone should a recognized contact call your phone. There are other accessories you can buy for your cell phone that will give a special touch to it, such as cell phone cases, faceplates and covers. Since the big push these days is on how to individualize your cell phone, why not add special lights or other accessories that will let you and others around you know that you have missed calls?
