December 06, 2004 By: Bill Schnarr What Is The Cell Phone Expansion Cards Feature?Cell phone expansion cards are used to add memory, features, or even software to cell phones and mobile wireless handsets. A cellular phone expansion card works like expansion cards for many other types of electronic equipment such as digital cameras, PDA’s and PDA cell phones, or even MP# music players. In fact, the same “memory sticks” that can be used on these machines can also be used on your cell phone if it is a model that can accept an expansion card. Manufacturing companies such as LG and others such Audiovox all make cell phones capable of handling and processing information from memory sticks and wireless phone expansion cards. An expansion card serves as a way for the user to store or transfer computer files, photos, music files, video games, ringtone files, or even make backups of phone data such as calendars or phone books. That way you never need to lose another appointment, phone number, or mp3 song again. People who live on their cell phones for their jobs (such as the IT sector) often need several to keep track of clients and contacts. These expansion cards can also be inserted into many new desktops for storage or transfer of this information. A cellular expansion card comes in many different sizes, but the most common one comes in Megabyte increments. For small devices such as cell phones, most wireless expansion cards will be in the 2-5 Megabyte range or even as high as 10Mb. A cell phone expansion card can be picked up at any number of places, from cell phone sales outlets to electronics store. They can even be found at many entertainment shops. If you see an area for cell phone accessories, such as ear buds or cell phone cases, the chances are pretty good you’ll find expansion cards somewhere close by.
