December 06, 2004 By: Bill Schnarr What Is The Cell Phone Directory Feature?A cell phone directory is a place on your cell phone where all of your contacts are kept. In a word, cell phone directories are your own phonebook. This feature is built into cell phones made by Kyocera as well as LG. In fact, every new phone available on the market, whether they be from Audiovox or the new Blackberry PDA phone line has the option of storing contact information and phone numbers for your friends, coworkers, and loved ones. In a more advanced mobile phone directory, you are able to not only keep track of names, addresses, and phone numbers, but built in software allows you to assign individual ringtones for different people as well as customized color graphics or even pictures. For example, add a creative touch to your mobile directories by assigning a big heart as a custom graphic and some romantic music as a ringtone for when your special someone calls. That way, you’ll know exactly who it is every time. Generally, cell phone directories hold anywhere from 20 to 150 numbers, with higher end cell phones giving you the option of adding more contacts. Cell phone directories also give you the advantage of rifling through your numbers, selecting the caller you want, and hitting the “enter” button to call them. Also known as “two button dialling”, it is a great way to use your cellular phone when you don’t have time to dial the number you need, like if you are driving or there is an emergency. A great new feature being made available by cell phone manufacturers such as Panasonic or their competitor Sanyo is the ability to link your computer to your cell phones and “sync” or “synchronize” your contacts online and on your cellular phone. You are able to download all the phones contact information off your desktop into your computer so you will never lose that important number you need again.
