November 26, 2004 By: Bill Schnarr What Is The Cell Phone Call Holding Feature? The cell phone call holding feature gives you the ability to put a caller on hold so you can make a separate call or accept another incoming call. Cell phone call hold is a feature that many professionals make constant use of. It allows the cell phone user to talk to one party without having to worry about missing another important call. Cell phone manufacturers such as Kyocera, Siemen’s, or Sony Ericsson have even gone so far as to add hold buttons to their phones for ease of use. Commonly known as “flash” buttons, this feature allows for the ability to switch between one call and another, like having a second phone line on your telephone or cell phone. Incoming calls are often announced with a chime that cuts in over your phone call. Then you can put the current caller on hold to answer the new call coming in. Some cell phone manufacturers also make their phones able to display the caller ID on the new incoming calls. Although these features were once novelties in the cell phone and hand held wireless world, they are becoming more commonplace with every generation of cell phones. The newer generation of cell phones from companies such as NEC, Nokia, and Panasonic actually allow you to have other options for your cellular phone call holding feature such as music playing while your caller waits for you to get back to them. In place of music, if you desire, you can arranged for advertising to be placed in your call holding message, or any combination of either. That way, you can reach your audience and keep them entertained at the same time! Cellular phone call holding is more than a novelty in today’s high paced world, it’s a necessity. People on the go need to know they aren’t going to miss those all important cellular phone calls.
