November 20, 2004 By: Nathan Menzies PDA Phone Cameras — The Smart Way To SaveWhy spend the money for a PDA (personal digital assistant), a digital camera and a cellular phone when you can get all three in the same device? PDA phone cameras let you send an e-mail from wherever you are, connect to the office network, view the latest sports highlights, take a picture of an associate and add it to your phone book—all with one pocket size device. A PDA phone camera is a palm-sized computer combined with a camera and a mobile telephone. PDA phones run on the popular Palm OS or the Microsoft Smartphone operating system. You can find thousands of time-saving software applications for your PDA phone cameras. You can even share information between your PDA and your personal computer. PDA phones like the Treo 600 for Verizon Wireless come equipped with a VGA camera that takes clear digital snapshots that can be sent to other camera phones using multimedia messaging technology. The cameras pictures that you take with the Treo can be added to your address book for picture caller ID. The Treo camera phone has a built-in QWERTY keypad to make text entry easier. Other PDA cell phones, like the Samsung i600 don’t have a full text keypad but they can be used with compatible full-sized keyboards. PDA cell phones can be used with dozens of accessories. The cameras hands-free headset lets you get things done while you talk on the phone. A cell phone pouch or holster protects your investment—even if the phone is free, you don’t want to have to replace it prematurely. For high-end PDA phones with Bluetooth technology you can transfer pictures wirelessly to a digital “picture frame” for the whole family to enjoy.
