November 20, 2004 By: Nathan Menzies Cell Phone With Digital Cameras — Picture Perfect DealsJust a few years ago nobody expected that a cell phone with digital cameras would become popular. Today it seems as if people can’t get enough. Cell phone cameras expand on the usefulness of mobile telephones by adding picture sharing, text messaging, scheduling, games and memos. What makes phone cameras so great? Part of the appeal of these high-tech telephones lies in the fact that they are so handy. You rarely leave home without your mobile phone. With a digital camera built-in, it’s easy to take pictures without giving it a second thought. It doesn’t matter whether Motorola or Nokia makes your phone, whether your carrier is Cingular or T-Mobile, the device you hold in your hand isn’t just a telephone. It is a mobile communication center. Camera phones are also popular because they make it so easy to send and receive digital pictures using multimedia messaging technology. You can also upload the pictures to a computer using a USB data cable. Some camera phones can transfer pictures wirelessly using an infrared port similar to those found on personal digital assistants (PDAs) but this tends to be a slow process. Bluetooth is an exciting new technology that lets you make a wireless connection to computers, as well as headsets and other devices. Most camera phones come in the compact flip-phone style. The sturdy clamshell handset protects the keypad and display. Some top-quality camera phones, like the Sony Ericsson T616, are available in as a “bar” style phone. The advantage of this design is that the display is always visible. This can be useful when you have picture caller ID enabled. With the recent technilogical advancements and prices dropping across the board, it's no surprise that digital camera phones are flying off the shelves at a record pace.
