April 14, 2005 By: Nathan Menzies Free Camera Phones — Shop Online And SaveThanks to advances in technology, wireless phones are smaller, lighter and more affordable than ever. Stiff competition between cellular service carriers makes it a buyer’s market for cell phones. Shop around and you can find unbelievable promotions and special incentives like free camera phones. Before you sign up for a free camera phone offer, take a minute to make sure the telephone has the features you need. Depending on the kind of pictures you like to take, it might be to your advantage to spend a little more money and get a camera phone with more features. If you just take few snapshots once in a while, the free phone might be the best deal. Camera phones are rated by the number of pixels, or dots, that go into the pictures they make. The more pixels, the better the quality of the picture. A cell phone with a 310k pixel camera (sometimes called VGA) takes pictures that are perfect for sharing with other mobile phones. Pictures from a VGA camera phone are good for computer or television screens. High-resolution camera phones, can produce sharp, picture-quality photos. Some camera phones can take short video clips as well as still pictures. When you start taking video, memory becomes an issue. The average mobile phone can store 10-20 digital pictures or a few video clips. High-end phones can hold a dozen or so video clips and up to 200 photos so you may want to consider a higher-end model. Also, keep in mind that a few cell phone accessories can make your camera phone easier and more enjoyable to use. A hands-free headset lets you get things done while you talk on the phone. A comfortable cell phone holster or "pouch" protects your investment—even if the phone is free, you don’t want to have to replace it prematurely. For high-end cell phones with Bluetooth technology you can transfer pictures wirelessly to a digital “picture frame” for the whole family to enjoy. With incredible new features and affordable prices, camera phones are becoming the "norm" all over the US, from Dauphin Island, Alabama to Fountain Hills, Arizona and Forest City, Arkansas to name a few.
