WorldCom Cell Phones — A Leader In Technology

WorldCom cell phones were partly responsible for making cellular technology what it is today. The cellular phones have many popular features like caller ID, call waiting, and ample address book memory. Phones from MCI WorldCom operate on the AMPS analog service, and in some cases on CDMA digital service. MCI Worldcom pioneered wireless technology, putting cellular phones in the hands of thousands of people long before cellular phones were popular.

Motorola’s StarTAC series made up a large part of the WorldCom cell phone line. MCI made these sturdy flip phones popular, giving customers advanced telephone technology in a compact folding case. The Motorola StarTAC 3000 operates on the AMPS and N-AMPS networks. This mobile phone features nine ringtones and vibrating alert.

Using Trimode digital technology, the Motorola StarTAC 7868 is a digital phone with a CDMA mini browser, e-mail, and Internet access. A data cable accessory adds fax capability. The phone display has four language options.

The Motorola Talkabout T2297 for MCI has a 99 entry phone book and a display with six language options.

Owners of MCI WorldCom phones can find a full range of accessories from Motorola and other companies. Shop online to find batteries, headsets, vehicle holders. A handsfree car kit is available, letting you use the phone freely while you keep both hands on the wheel. A wide range of universal aftermarket accessories will also work with MCI wireless phones. Universal cell phone holsters, cell phone pouches and car holders will work with most MCI phones.

MCI Worldcom discontinued wireless service to focus on landline technology. Nextel bought most of MCI’s wireless assets. Some MCI wireless phones can be programmed for use with other networks.

Whether you work at home or on the road, from Elizabeth City, North Carolina to Geneva, New York or even Hobbs, New Mexico, you’re sure to find accessories for your WorldCom phone by shopping online.
