Pocket PC Phone — It Does Windows!

Have you ever been kept waiting somewhere and wished that you could use the time to catch up on work? Pocket PC phone gives you the power to bring your office with you, anywhere that you would bring your cellular phone.

Pocket PC is a term used to describe a range of Windows-enabled pocket computers. Pocket PC phone technology combines the power of a Pocket PC with the portability of a mobile phone. All Pocket PC computers let you run portable versions of familiar applications like Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, Word and Excel. On top of that you can manage your email or connect to a corporate website.

At the high end is the HP iPAQ h6315 from T-Mobile. This cell phone has built-in WiFi technology, letting you connect wirelessly to the Internet in many hotels, coffee shops or universities. Built-in Bluetooth lets you synchronize wirelessly to your laptop or personal computer. For Cingular users there is the Siemens SX66, a 400 MHz mini computer that runs the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system. An expansion slot lets you add Bluetooth wireless connectivity to this cellular phone.

The Hitachi G1000 from Sprint is a stylish Pocket cellular phone with an integrated QWERTY keypad, making it easier to take notes or send SMS text messages. AT&T users can get their own Pocket cell phone — the Audiovox PPC 4100.

One thing that makes most Pocket PC cell phones stand out from other wireless phones with personal digital assistant (PDA) capability is the lack of a keypad. A “virtual keypad” is displayed on the computer’s touch screen, allowing easy dialing. For typing email Pocket cell phones have a “soft keyboard” that shows onscreen.

Pocket cellular phones let people keep in touch with their data whether they are traveling through McAllen, Texas, Suffolk, Virginia or even Newcastle, Washington.
