Compare Cell Phone Carriers — Find Service And Savings

You can have a top-of-the-line wireless phone and still be out of luck if your carrier doesn’t meet your needs. Next time you’re ready to upgrade your cell phone or service plan be sure to compare cell phone carriers on the basis of coverage area, rates, and service add-ons.

Cellular plans are enormously competitive and offer a wide range of deals and promotions. It helps to have a list of the things you need before you shop. The best cellular carrier is the one that fits your lifestyle.

Cost-per-minute is only part of the story when it comes to cell phone rate plans. Compare cell phone carrier packages to find which one has a plan that best fits the way you use your phone. Some cellular phones carriers give you a lot of free minutes up front, but don’t offer free night minutes. If you use your cell phone mainly for business this type of plan might be right for you. Other carriers are less generous with free daytime minutes but they have free night minutes—a great way to save if you make a lot of evening calls to friends and family. Be sure and check how each carrier charges for night minutes. Most cellular phones plans offer night minutes beginning at 9 PM. A few plans give away night minutes as early as 7 pm.

A number of cellular phones carriers offer plans to help you make the most of minutes you don’t use during the month. Cingular has Rollover minutes, letting you carry over unused minutes. Sprint PCS has a Fair and Flexible™ plan that lowers your rate in months when you use less minutes.

When you compare calling plans, be sure to check the coverage map. Folks who stay close to home don’t need to worry much about roaming charges. But if you’re on the go, traveling between places like Cullman, Alabama, El Mirage City, Arizona and El Dorado, Arkansas, look for a plan with coverage in areas where you travel. Plans with no roaming charges can also save money.
