Cell Phone Comparisons — More Features, Better Service

If you’re like many users, you’re still discovering new things that today’s wireless cell phones can do. Why is your friend looking at his phone after ordering a meal at a restaurant? It’s because his cell phone has a built-in tip calculator. When making cell phone comparisons it’s important to consider all the things you do. Do you like to keep in touch with a large group of friends? Compare a cellular phone that supports AOL Instant Messenger. Want to capture precious moments of a child’s first years? A cellular phone with a built-in camera is the perfect choice.

Today’s cell phone market is so competitive that even full-featured cellular camera phones are surprisingly affordable. When making cell phone comparisons on the basis of price, it helps to prioritize the features that you think you will use most. If you like the idea of a camera phone but want the thinnest, lightest weight phone possible, consider getting a phone that accepts an add-on camera module. Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and other companies have camera-ready phones.

Service Plan Comparisons

After you compare the different mobile phones on the market, be sure to compare calling plans. Cingular, AT&T Wireless, and Nextel each has its own rate plan. If you have relatives spread between Arab, Alabama, Alexandria, Louisiana and Juneau, Alaska, look for a nationwide plan with no long distance charges.

Every carrier has its own way to charge for special services such as SMS text messaging and picture messages. For instance, T-Mobile offers a package with 20 free picture messages and ten cents for each additional message. Cingular’s media package gives you 50 free multimedia messages to start but charges $0.25 for each additional message.

Once you know the features you want and know the differences between rate plans in your area, look for special deals online. Who knows, you might find the phone you want…or a very similar phone being offered as a web only give-away!
