Handheld Mobile Phone – Multimedia Enhancements

The time has come that your handheld mobile phone could actually replace your television and video camera. Thanks to a new high-performance video chip the multimedia capability of a handheld mobile phone has been greatly enhanced.

Alphamosiac has created the VideoCore II (VC02), a new video-processing engine compatible with handheld mobile phones and calls the new video chip the world’s most advanced multimedia processor.

VC02 is able to handle a full range of audio and video formats and is completely programmable. The chip can display video on 3.5-inch LCD handheld mobile phone screens and enables mobile phones to capture 8 mega pixel images in both still and video formats.

Ideal for use in handheld mobile phones, the low power draw of VC02 makes it efficient enough to provide several hours of continuous use. This feature makes it possible to record or watch a full-length movie from a mobile phone.

The next generation of handheld mobile phones will include more video-enabled handsets. Expanding the possibilities of what users will be able to do with mobile phones, the VC02 makes sending video clips to friends and video messaging from the phone just two of the possibilities.

Alphamosaic, a British semiconductor company, says that VC02 is compatible with other portable devices including camcorders, mini disk drives and handheld digital televisions.
