Cell Phone Application – New SAT Study Program

The cell phone application has now gone beyond convenience and fun, to educational. Since most cell phone users always carry their cell phones with them, it makes the ideal study aid. Thanks to new educational cell phone applications, you can do everything from learn a language, to study for your SATs.

The Princeton Review in conjunction with Vocel, a developer of cell phone applications, has introduced an SAT study program at a low cost of just $7 per month. Users download the application to their cell phones then program their phones to call them at certain time each day and ask them questions. The application helps teens hone their English and math skills in preparation for the college entrance exam. The cell phone displays a score after each set of review questions and teens and parents can track progress online at www.princetonreview.com.

Another cell phone application that teaches American Sign Language is offered by Verizon and Mobile Mind. The sign language application works on BREW-enabled phones and allows users to learn the sign language alphabet and test their own progress. The program displays images on the cell phone to teach letters and words. Mobile Mind is working on an advanced application that will use ASL animated words and phrases.

Several other vendors offer language-learning applications for cellular telephones which include dictionaries and translation programs. The translation application allows you to enter a word into your phone in one language and find an equivalent word in a second language. Some cell phone applications also have short language quizzes that can be fun as well as educational.
