What Is A Cell Phone MP3 Player?

Why shell out extra cash for an MP3 player when you can get one in your phone? A cell phone MP3 player cuts down on the number of gadgets you need to carry and it extends the usefulness of your mobile phone.

MP3s are music files that are compressed, making it possible to fit more songs on a small music player, computer or compact disc. Cell phone MP3 players can play music downloaded wirelessly from online music stores depending on you service plan. Most MP3-enabled cellular phones come with software that lets you organize music and build playlists on your computer. The music and playlists can be uploaded to the MP3 cellular phone from the computer using a USB data cable.

Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Kyocera and other companies offer cellular phones with built-in MP3 players. Some cell phone models can play MP3s with an optional MP3 modules or headsets. These headsets include stereo earphones, a microphone for mobile phone conversations, the MP3 player, controller and expandable memory.

When shopping online for cell phone MP3 players look for deals on additional memory. Sony Ericsson cellular phones, for instance, use Memory Stick Duo flash memory cards. A 256 MB memory cards holds about 60 songs, or four hours of music.

Some Bluetooth enabled mobile phones make a wireless connection to a stand-alone MP3 player module. Others can connect with a wireless base station, functioning as a desktop stereo.

Most MP3-enabled cellular phones have the added benefit of full-music ringtones. Unlike other telephones that play ringtones that "sound like" the songs you know, cell phone MP3 players play the actual song as the ringtone. MP3 ringtones can be downloaded from online music stores, depending on one's service plan.
