September 27, 2004 By: Jack Adams Mobile Phone Platforms – Print From A Cell Phone?HP has developed mobile phone platforms that allow users to print directly from their Nokia phones. The new platform is officially known as the Mobile Print Application Software for Series 60 Imaging Phones. Now it is possible for consumers to print pictures, text messages, e-mail, calendar, multimedia messages and contact items directly from their mobile phones to an HP printer, eliminating the need to download images or files to a computer before printing. The phone and the printer must have Bluetooth functionality in order to utilize the new printing platform. If the new HP BT 1300 Bluetooth Wireless Printer Adapter is utilized, other HP printers can use the new platform to print from mobile phones. The first company to incorporate the platform into its mobile handsets, Nokia's 3650, 6600 and 7650 currently support the mobile phone platforms. The printing platform works on the HP Deskjet 450wbt and the HP Deskjet 995 ck, which support Bluetooth and Basic Print Profile technology. According to HP, printer's process memory carries the mobile phone platform and so very little memory space is required from the telephone itself. Nokia offers the Mobile Print Application Software for Series 60 Imaging Phones as a free download. To get your copy, go to these web sites:
