Motorola Mobile Phone – QWERTY Keyboard Included

What was once a regular Motorola mobile phone with a numeric keypad, is now a new Motorola mobile phone with a fully integrated QWERTY keyboard.

QWERTY is the name of the standard typewriter keyboard that was developed over 140 years ago. The name comes from the top row of letters on your computer keyboard(Q-W-E-R-T-Y). Motorola is following other electronics makers and incorporating QWERTY keyboards into some new Motorola cell phones.

The QWERTY movement started when Palm One introduced their Treo 600 mobile phone. Sending text messages and e-mail from mobile phones is much easier on a QWERTY keyboard. Motorola’s V630 mobile phone is the company’s entry into the QWERTY market. The Motorola V630 mobile phone has a traditional number keypad on the front. Users flip open the phone to access the QWERTY keyboard.

Manufacturers are experimenting with a variety of designs for incorporating QWERTY keyboards into mobile handsets. Some keyboards fold in half, others flip open and at least one mobile phone has a detachable keyboard.

The V630 Motorola mobile phone also has an integrated digital camera and full Bluetooth functionality. The tri-band GSM mobile can function as a hands-free speakerphone with polyphonic speakers. One of the best features of the Motorola design is the phone’s internal display. The color landscape display screen makes this mobile phone ideal for browsing the Internet or reading documents.

The Motorola V630 mobile phone will be available in some markets in late 2004.
