Donate a Phone® – Make A Call to Protect® And Support The Victims Of Domestic Violence

People have been donating cell phones to the Donate a Phone® Call to Protect® campaign since as far back as 1998. In fact, more than 2 million cellular phone donations have been made to the foundation since then. Consumers donating cell phones, helps the organization in its work towards ending domestic violence.

When consumers make a cellular phone donation to this program, it has two very positive results. First, cellular phone donations helps to protect the environment by keeping used phones out of city landfills, and second, profits from donated cellular phones are helping to benefit victims of domestic violence.

Donated cell phones help a variety of charities and through “Call to Protect®”, phones that are donated are refurbished and given to victims of domestic violence. For someone living in a potentially dangerous situation, a cell phone often serves as a lifeline. In some cases, donated phones are resold to the public, with all the profits going toward grants that support agencies working against domestic violence.

If you want to make a cell phone donation to Call to Protect®, follow these simple steps:

Make sure that your phone is deactivated
Look on the Donate a Phone web site to see if there is a drop site in your local area
If there is no drop off site in your area, simply mail your cell phone to: Call to Protect, 2555 Bishop Circle West, Dexter, MI 48130-1563

Call to Protect® will accept your donation of used cell phone batteries and chargers as well, and all cell phone donations are tax deductible.

Other programs affiliated with Donate a Phone also accept phone donations for charitable causes. These include Sprint “Protect Connect” and Nextel Buybacks.
