GSM World Phones – Easier To Use Overseas

Verizon has come up with GSM world phones which are now available in all markets. Being able to take the GSM phone with them when they travel overseas is a real selling feature, but the key advantage to the GSM world phones is that they also allow users to keep the same phone number no matter where they are on the globe. This means that it will be even easier for clients to reach you when you travel.

In the past, world travel overseas meant renting cell phones and changing numbers as you moved from country to country. A real breakthrough for the American business traveller, the world phone eliminates the need to use hotel phones or purchase calling cards in foreign countries.

The new Samsung SCH-a790 is an example of the new world phone. Available with a digital camera and voice recognition technology, the quad-band headset also comes equipped with both Code Dependent Multiple Access (CDMA) and GSM technology. While CDMA technology has long been standard for cell phone use in the United States, Global System of Mobile Communications, or GSM, is the standard cell phone technology used in Europe, Africa, Australia and most of Asia.

Finally, with the introduction of GSM World Phones, the United States will be able to keep up with the rest of the world's communication technology.
