September 22, 2004 By: Jack Adams Nokia Cell Phones – Made With Gamers In MindNokia cell phones launched in Fall 2003, were designed with one in mind, and that’s gaming. When you first see the N-Gage QD™, the wireless device looks like a mini Gameboy, but it’s really a fully functioning cellular phone. Nokia Cell Phones is hoping that their new phone will appeal to the gaming crowd. However, the new Nokia phone was slower to catch on than Nokia had hoped. So, Nokia did a quick redesign and introduced the N-Gage QD™ in April. Sales of this newly designed Nokia cell phone/game deck are on the rise. The N-Gage QD™ has a larger screen than the original phone and a slot for loading game cards. Nokia got rid of the MP3 player on the original N-Gage cell phone and lowered its price. The N-Gage QD™ has many of the features you’d expect from any of the Nokia cell phones. You can make calls and browse the web from the dual band phone. Blue Tooth technology makes it possible to transfer files wirelessly right from the phone. Nokia, the world’s largest maker of cellular telephones, announced in September 2004 that sales of the N-Gage and N-Gage QD™ phones had reached the one million mark. Nokia had initially hoped to sell several million cell phones by the end of 2004 and the company now predicts that the next million sales of the gaming phones will happen very quickly. The N-Gage QD™ Nokia cell phone has been available in the United States since July 2004. For more information, see Nokia Mobile Phones.
