Cellular Phone Costs – Find The Right Plan

In order to be a savvy cellular phone consumer, you need to know all you can about cellular phone costs.

If you just had to compare the cost of the actual cell phone alone, then all you'd need to do is line up phones with comparable features and just look at the price tags. But anyone who's owned a cell phone know that cellular phone costs involve car more than just the cost of the actual telephone.

In order to determine what the actual costs of owning and using a cellular phone will be, you must look at the following items:

price of the actual phone
activation fees
price per minute used beyond what your plan covers
monthly service plan fee
roaming charges
long distance charges
cost of any unused minutes
cost of terminating a contract early

If you've never owned a cell phone before, or you are just getting into the cellular market, try to find a cellular plan that includes a free phone. A lot of cell phone plans come with a free phone that's equipped with popular features low calling fees. If you look for a service plan with similar features and then add the cost of that plan to the cost of buying the same model of phone outright, how does that number compare to the price of the plan offering the free phone?

One way to keep extra charges for roaming or long distance down, is to look for a plan that might offer those services for free. If you're already on a plan but find a better cellular plan, then consider what it will cost to terminate your current contract. The cell phone market is becoming more and more competitive, and you should be able to find a plan that will reduce your cellphone costs.
