Prepaid Cellular Phones – No Surprises

Stop avoiding those cell phone bills. Avoid unwanted surprises by using prepaid cell phones. If you want to know exactly what your phone charges will be each month, then a prepaid cell phone might be right for you.

Prepaid cell phones are easy to find at retail stores like Target and WalMart and even convenience stores like 7-Eleven carry prepaid phones. A prepaid phone starter kit will include the phone, a battery, a prepaid card with start-up minutes and instructions on how to activate the phone.

Most prepaid phones do not require you to pay an activation fee. There are no termination fees if you want to drop the phone service. The biggest advantage of prepaid phones is that they don’t require any contracts or credit checks.

Once your prepaid cell phone has been activated, you simply buy cards that contain additional minutes. Prepaid phone time can cost anywhere from five to 50 cents per minute depending on how many minutes you buy at once. Keep in mind that prepaid minutes do have an expiration date. Most minutes are good for 90 days but some expire in just 30 days. Make sure that you read the fine print when purchasing your phone.

In order to track how many minutes are left on your prepaid cell phone check the phone display. Some prepaid services charge two minutes for each minute of roaming. Keep in mind that if you use up all of your minutes and fail to replenish your cell phone quickly, you may have to pay a reactivation fee.

Hybrid prepaid cellular phones are available that replenish minutes automatically.
