September 17, 2004 By: Jack Adams Travel Cell Phone Chargers – Are You Packing Right?Where were you when your cell phone battery died? Chances are that you were far away from your home or office and wished you'd packed travel cell phone charger with you. Find a variety of travel cell phone chargers online. The most common travel chargers are devices that allow you to charge your cellular phone battery while you drive. These chargers are inexpensive. On the web, most models sell for $6 to $20. If you spend any amount of time in your car it just makes sense to have one of these chargers. The car chargers can easily be stored in the glove compartment. Most chargers will allow you talk while the phone is charging. Other types of travel cell phone chargers are small, compact chargers designed to be plugged into a wall outlet. Choose a model that is small enough to easily fit in a purse or briefcase. Some travelers carry one of these inexpensive chargers in their carry-on bag and a second one in their suitcase. Remember that if you are traveling internationally, you must make sure that your cell phone charger works in 220-volt outlets or take along a converter. A third type of travel cell phone charger is good to have when you are far from any power source. If you’re outdoors or your car battery is dead, you can use a windup charger to give your phone new life. Look for a compact kit that comes with adapters to fit several types of phones—that way you can charge a friend’s cell phone in an emergency. You charge the phone by using a small hand crank. Three minutes of cranking gets you an average of five minutes of talk time or up to 30 minutes of stand-by time.
