Internet Ready Cell Phones – What Can Yours Do?

Internet ready cell phones are common today, while a market study just a few short years ago, indicated that many consumers didn’t understand the value of Internet ready cell phones.

In the year 2000, nearly half of all cell phones sold in the United States were Internet ready but less than 5% of people surveyed by Allied Business Intelligence that same year, said cell phones were good Internet access tools. Forty percent said they were not and nearly half of those surveyed had no opinion.

While an internet ready cell phone can be used as a web browser not all Internet sites are supported by wireless technology. Some Internet ready cellular phone applications offer consumers immediate updates on sports scores, stock prices, weather or other information. Sending and receiving e-mail is another popular use of Internet ready phones.

Access to data, calendars and contacts stored on your office computer may also be possible through an Internet phone. Changes made to documents via your cell phone can be stored on your computer without having to synchronize the devices.

Be sure to talk to your provider about different service plan options if you're planning to use your cell phone for Internet access. Keep in mind that using your cell phone to browse the web counts against your monthly minutes.
